Restaurant Guide

The majority of restaurants on Antigua are located either very near to hotels, or right in them, so getting to dining hot spots is very easy. Antiguan restaurants offer many varieties of food and have an amazing way of mixing tropical ingredients, fresh seafood and tropical fruits, with international dishes and their own methods of cooking, a wonderful ‘fusion cuisine’ which delights and excites the taste buds. The majority of restaurants on Antigua treat dining as just part of the whole experience which should always include live music and entertainment.

For those of you who would rather experience the more traditional island food, Antiguan cuisine is renown for its pepperpot soup, (a stew made of several meats, dumplings, spices and vegetables), fungi, (a dish made of okra and cornmeal) and ducana (a sweet potato, coconut, sugar and spices steamed in a banana leaf). Of course there are many other local favourites such as salt codfish, roast suckling pig and many varieties of seafood to be found in Antiguan restaurants.

Prices for dining out in Antigua ranges from very cheap - $5 US dollars – to very expensive - $70 US dollars, but no matter what your price range you will be guaranteed an interesting and unique meal. The location and climate of Antigua means with certainty that fresh catches from the sea (red snapper, mahi mahi, shark, conch and shrimp) and an amazing array of local produce including black pineapples, coconuts, papayas and breadfruit will determine the mouth-watering cuisine available on the island.
